Large Lawned Garden
Over the summer of 2015 we took on this great garden project close to the Emirates Stadium in Highbury, north London. The garden was mainly laid to lawn with a large overgrown shrub bed in one corner. The owners of the house had just moved in and were carrying out a full refurb, of which the garden became a major part of.
The existing patio and driveway were removed, then low retaining walls and wide steps were constructed out of brick and sandstone paving to match the house. The old lawn was removed and the garden levelled before deep planting beds were created and new turf laid.
A leaning thirty metre long neighbouring brick wall was demolished and rebuilt and the garden was stocked with hundreds of flowering perennials, shrubs and trees, all watered by a new irrigation system coving the beds and lawn. The result is a beautiful, traditional and colourful garden that smells amazing.
"Hard to believe that the garden we imagined at the outset was accomplished so quickly, painlessly and true to our original vision. From design to budget, hard landscaping to planting, Philip collaborated with us at every stage. Most importantly, he listens to his clients and for us, what began as a business relationship between client and contractor evolved into partnership and then into friendship.
From the outset he understood what we wanted to achieve and he was pragmatic and clear about where we could compromise and where we could not. His level of communication is superb. His designs work. His plants flourish. His team works quickly and tidily. He finishes on time and on budget and the end result is stunning and enduring."
