Tropical Style Garden
Fork's garden design and project management ability was fantastic. The service was great - they were really flexible, taking the practical elements that were important to me into account, while also offering really creative and innovative ideas to give the garden a 'wow factor'. They were absolute perfectionists when it came to the building aspects, while also working very quickly. They've completely transformed the garden; I feel like I'm on holiday when I'm in it! It also looks so much bigger now, and has even made an impact on my flat by letting more light in and making my home overall feel more spacious and bright. I'm thrilled with the results!

Hard to believe that the garden we imagined at the outset was accomplished so quickly, painlessly and true to our original vision. From design to budget, hard landscaping to planting, Philip collaborated with us at every stage. Most importantly, he listens to his clients and for us, what began as a business relationship between client and contractor evolved into partnership and then into friendship.
From the outset he understood what we wanted to achieve and he was pragmatic and clear about where we could compromise and where we could not. His level of communication is superb. His designs work. His plants flourish. His team works quickly and tidily. He finishes on time and on budget and the end result is stunning and enduring.

Philip is not from the stable of garden designers who produce exquisite watercolours of how your garden ‘might’ be. He is practical to a fault. He deals with the unforeseen with a problem-solving mentality and with good humour. He will overcome logistical problems to give you the skeleton of a garden that will work in terms of how you use it - drainage, location, soil, aspect etc. and then and only then he will flesh it out and make it pretty. That is definitely the right way round. Clever planting is only worth the outlay if your plants thrive and his, all carefully and assiduously sourced and at a very keen price, all thrive.
Philip will roll up his sleeves and get stuck in or talk you through a complex irrigation or lighting scheme with equal ease and his knowledge as a plantsman is invaluable. What started for us as a relatively modest trial scheme grew to the much more ambitious finished product largely because of our confidence in his ability to deliver and execute our shared ideas for what might work.
Setting aside the enormous and ongoing pleasure the garden has given us since its installation it has added enormously to the value of our property and in that sense it has been an enormous investment in both financial and lifestyle terms.
After all the hard work Philip was guest of honour at our housewarming party which was held, of course, in our new garden. Our only misgiving is that he will now be poached by all our friends…

Front Garden
West Hampstead Front Garden
Our front entrance steps were in very poor condition, and water was leaking into the basement room below. Fork Garden Design stripped and rebuilt our front entrance stair and forecourt.
The work included rebuilding the stair walls as the existing structure was crumbling away; re-rendering the external walls with a layer of fibre-mesh underlay to reinforce the structure; and paving the steps and forecourt with high quality sandstone slabs. During the construction, Fork Design also coordinated with the waterproofing specialist to sequence the work.
Philip and his team were very professional, diligent and thoughtful. Their work reflected a very high level of design, workmanship and quality.

Philip has both very good design skill and is meticulous with implementation details. We could not be happier with the result, which has transformed the space.
As a client who is also an architect by profession and with over 20-year of experience, I am extremely impressed with Philip and his team. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Chic Small Town Garden
Chic Town Garden
We enlisted Philip's help at the recommendation of our architects and we could not be happier. Our small back garden was charming but we had become increasingly frustrated with how we had outside space but we were not able to utilise the space in a meaningful way. Particularly now that we are parents to an energetic toddler.
We were really impressed with how Philip produced and presented various proposals to us. At no point did we feel overwhelmed with options and he was able to visualise a garden we had no idea was possible given the space. Once the design was agreed we started to become quite nervous about the project as it involved a complete redesign of the back and dragging huge amounts of soil, flag stones and plants (including trees!) through the ground floor of our home as there is no other access point to the rear garden.
Given our past experiences with builders and tradesmen we remained sceptical but were quite taken aback not just with how professional they all were but with the quality of their work. Our garden and in fact house is not the easiest of places to work as everything is uneven.

Philip was on site most days not just supervising but working away in the garden with everyone and always approached us with a solution (sometimes two) to any issue he or his team encountered during the build. It was very clear to us early on that Philip really cared about the quality of the outcome not just getting the project finished.
The garden did take a few weeks longer than planned due to a number of factors (including dreadful weather!) but the overall outcome was very much worth the wait. We absolutely love our new garden and our son now wakes up each morning pointing outside and shouting 'garden!' which is more than we could have asked for.
Thank you Philip and the team.

Islington Roof Terrace
Canal-side Roof Terrace Garden
Philip and his team have done a fantastic job. We felt very well looked after from the very first day when Philip came for an initial visit. He not only helped us to convert our ideas but also brought in many great recommendations that helped to transform our roof terrace into a great green oasis.
The actual works were carried out as discussed and on time. His team was extremely reliable and completed very versatile tasks so that Fork provided a complete solution - from replacing the old concrete tiles with great new sandstone paving to composing and installing the planting. Philip is very creative and we love his modern style.
We are very happy with the results and are enjoying our new roof terrace no matter whether we are sitting outside or just looking at it from the inside.

We gave Fork Garden Design the difficult brief of making the most of a small and unloved space outside our front door and below street level. From the outset I was hugely impressed by their ideas, flexibility and responsiveness. It was also clear they were passionate to get the space to be the best it could be in our budget.

The final result surpassed our expectations - it looks fantastic and is also functional, with bespoke storage built to keep our bins out of sight. Several of the neighbours have already commented on how good it looks. Every part of our experience with Fork was seamless.
